The Obon festival (お盆, also known as Bon festival) is an annual Japanese holiday that commemorates and remembers deceased ancestors. It is believed that their spirits return at this time to visit their relatives.
FIRST DAY
The lanterns will guide you from the city center to the dojo - swaying in the summer breeze, inviting the curious and the knowing. The surroundings of the dojo are filled with the aroma of traditional food, tents with locals (thanks to Shinjiro for teaching the chefs), and our own Chosen arranged for festival-goers. The prices are fair, the food is a tender soothing to homesickness to some, and a fresh experience for others.
Within the dojo walls is where the decoration reaches its peak in beauty, glowing lights that go from the trees to the roof. There are traditional masks for taking and wearing - but there is also a large sign that says:
ʏᴜᴋᴀᴛᴀ ʀᴇɴᴛɪɴɢ ᴀɴᴅ ꜱᴇʟʟɪɴɢ
ᴛʀᴀɪɴɪɴɢ ʀᴏᴏᴍ
Even if you didn't think about dressing up, the local tailors put a lot of effort into learning and making yukatas, so there's a large selection of them to choose from - the bathroom is also available to change. The locals will help those who aren't so sure about how to put them on.
Most of the dojo is locked, but the fun is outside, anyway! The yard is filled with matsuri games, prizes being either in food or a few coins! If traditional games are not your thing, the living room is open for visitation - so is the Nintendo for playing. Mind the massive sign next to it, though.

DAY TWO
Day two has all the things the first day has - except the gaming booths are now holding competitions. Unfortunately, some of us are broke and unable to pay too much, but first place gets a favor from Mikey and a small prize in money, and second and third place will receive cake and sweets of their choosing - as well as bragging rights.
There will be a small bonfire for the bon odori dance, and there will be encouragement for all to partake. At the end of the festival, all are invited to walk towards the ocean to send some lanterns to celebrate the deceased.
(ooc: feel free to assume any game or food is available, and if your character would like to work in it, also fine! they can keep most of the profits.
for the competition, i will roll a dice whoever comments here, and the highest rolls will be our champions!)
